Aprilia unveiled the Aprilia RS250 SP racing machine at EICMA 2019. The RS250SP, specifically designed for young riders now has a price tag!
The Aprilia RS250 SP racing machine developed in collaboration with Ohvale specifically targets young riders planning to move into Moto3 or other championships. This racing machine was supposed to participate in the Italian FMI Aprilia Sport Production Championship in 2020. With the ongoing COIVD-19 outbreak, this race which focuses on young riders remains a question.
During the unveiling of the bike, Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing stated
“The new championship takes up a tradition that makes Aprilia unique; a brand that has taken generations of young people onto the track and that has raised great champions,”
“From 2020, thanks to the partnership with the Federation, we will once again be providing fun for young people who, in this championship, will find a way to make their dreams come true and perhaps, this is our wish, the start of a path in the world of competitive motorcycling.”
“This is why we have designed an easy bike and formula that will attract the highest number of young people to competitive motorcycling.”
Although the bike borrows design quirks from Ohvale, the Aprilia RS250 SP comes with an Aprilia four-stroke engine. Aprilia recently announced the price of the RS250 SP to be €9,700| RM 45,700 (excluding taxes).
It isn’t cheap, but considering it comes race-ready with a tonne of premium components such as; Brembo brake callipers, Ohils suspension and SC-Project exhaust and 17-inch Marchesini wheels with Pirelli tyres; makes it one of the cheapest “racing bikes” for young riders competing in championships. Did you know, this track-only Aprilia RS250SP weighs 105kg and makes 28bhp.
It’s uncertain if this track machine would hit our shores for the youngsters. However, we might be able to see Aprilia bringing in a proper road-going version of this bike in the near future.
