BMW Motorrad released the long-awaited BMW R18 just a few weeks back. Although BMW is refocusing part of its activities to produce masks for COVID-19 pandemic, they haven’t abandoned product development altogether. According to RideApart, BMW is also currently working on their current G310 lineup. The updated BMW G310GS and G310R test mules undergoing development testing were spotted by RideApart. Here is everything you need to know about the next-gen G310GS and GS310R!

Looking at the leaked pictures of the test mules and the current 310s, both the GS and R get aesthetic updates. To begin with, both the 310 twin (GS and R) get a slightly modified headlight design with sharper aesthetics and  LED cluster. Aside from this, the twin get an updated  LED turn signals too.

In the case of the G310GS, the front fender appears to be narrower. On top of this, the side bodywork looks much sharper, aggressive and slightly wider.

As for the GS310R, the headlight casing looks sleeker and points forward. Furthermore, it appears that the R gets an updated side panel design too. Although the aesthetic updates don’t seem much, the powertrain upgrades are something that we looking forward.

Engine

The BMW Motorrad’s G310 lineup is developed in collaboration with TVS Motor Company of India. A few weeks back we heard the news about G310’s twin, the TVS Apache RTR 310 getting a BS6 upgrade. There had been news on the BMW G310 getting the BS6 upgrade in India later this year. This means BMW might have actually tweaked the exhaust system or the engine 2020 release. On top of this, since the 313cc single-cylinder engine came out in 2016 with the BMW G310R so we could potentially see a powertrain update with Euro 5 compliance.

The release

Although the updated model is expected to launch this year, with the ongoing coronavirus it remains a question. However, our sources also speculate that BMW Motorrad might actually launch the updated 310 twin online.
