Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade Wins Red Dot Design Award

 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and the Honda e electric car win product design awards in one of the most respected awards in the world, the Red Dot Award.

First announced at the 2019 ECIMA, Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is the top flagship model of the CBR series.  The design and development of the bike took place with the concept of ” Total control for the track” in mind. The design and development of the engine utilize technology from theRC213V MotoGP which continues to win world titles. It is also the most powerful engine for a CBR yet.

To ensure pure performance, the bike’s frame enhances stability under braking and acceleration. On top of this, the advanced electronic control system further improves its potential.  Want to know about the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP? Read all about it here!

Furthermore, the bodywork of the bike, from the fairings to the MotoGP derived winglets lead to a class-leading drag coefficient of  0.270. The bodywork also improves downforce and stability while being aesthetically pleasing.

2020 HONDA CBR1000RR-R SP

Founded in 1955, the Red Dot Award has since become one of the most respectable design awards worldwide.

49 categories of industrial products are judged on nine criteria including degree of innovation, functionality, durability and ergonomics. Outstanding designs obtain three awards, “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, “Red Dot” and “Honourable Mention”. “Red Dot: Best of the Best” is the most prestigious award among them.

The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP won the Red Dot award in the motorcycle category thanks to the innovative new design approach and design by Honda R&D and HRC. Leading to the development of a functional beauty through pursuing the limits of the high-performance. Also, a radically new form to achieve uncompromising function not only in the public roads but also in the circuit!

Speaking of the award, as quoted by Visordown, The General Manager of Motorcycle Design Division, Satoshi Kawawa said:

“The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP was developed to win races in any category – from club racing to international competition. Its design and styling are led by that philosophy – with every part and every detail designed with speed, performance and aerodynamic efficiency in mind. We’re honoured that it has been recognised with such a prestigious award.”

Aside from the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, the Honda e electric car won “Best of the best car design” and “smart product”!
