Triumph already unveiled the base street triple “S” and the ultimate performance street “RS” variants for 2020. According to sources, Triumph is unveiling the updated 2020 street triple “R” next week.
Triumph unveiled the base spec “S” in January 2020 and the high spec “RS” back in September 2019. As of now, the middle spec R is missing from the 2020 Street triple line up. According to motorcycle news, Triumph is unveiling the street triple R next week.
What to expect from the 2020 Street Triple R
As for the specs of this bike, no information is out yet. However, since Triumph has to place the R variant logically between the S and the RS, we can expect the specs and tech utilised on the R to be in the middle of the other two. In the case of styling, the R is expected to follow similar design quirks of the 2020 S and the RS. Overall, the styling of the R’s bodywork would be sharper and aggressive just as the updated 2020 Street Triple RS and S.
Since the old headlamp stying has been there for quite some time now, Triumph would update the headlamps just like what they did to the other two.
As for the tech, we also expect to see some updates as they made some tech improvements on the recently released street triples. According to the source, the new bike will also be fully Euro5 compliant, just like the recently released models.
We can’t put the finger on it, but we are guessing the engine could be the updated 765cc inline-triple. The 2019 R and RS both put out around 119 hp, whereas the updated RS produces 121 hp so just as few other sources we are guessing the updated R would push the same amount of ponies.
As quoted by MCN, Triumph confirmed MCN that they would deliver “incredible new value in the Street line-up, with a new Street Triple R that promises a major update with much more on offer at a new, attractive lower price point.”
The Pricing
The 2020 Street Triple S priced at £7900 and the RS at £10,300 (RM 67,900). Would the R be placed somewhere between this range?
Conclusively, we are still not sure to which market Triumph would make this model available. This is because only the new 2020 RS is available in Malaysia and other Asian regions so far. On the other hand, the updated Street triple S is only available in Europe. However, we hope Triumph does make the 2020 Street Triple R available to the Asian market too!
We will be posting more information once Triumph unveils the bike so be on the lookout.
