According to the rumours, Ducati Project 1708 is an advanced version of the Ducati’s flagship Panigale V4, or in other words, Ducati project 1708 is likely to be the new Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera. If that’s the case, this bike is going to be a limited run model before Ducati refreshes their superbike platform.

Overall, from the spec sheet and pictures that have been storming the internet lately, it seems like Ducati is advancing their superbike technology much closer to their MotoGP bikes. The bike would be going into production in April 2020 and delivery starts in May 2020 according to the rumours.

The Leaked Spec sheet and Photos

According to Drive Mag, some potential customers received a sneak peek preview of the project directly from the CEO of Ducati, Claudio Domenicali. As for the Spec sheet, it was initially leaked out through Facebook.

The Spy shots from last year

Ride Apart spotted a test mule of the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera last year in October. Comparing the leaked photos and specs of the Project 1708 with the spy shots reveals that the development of the Project 1708/V4 Superleggera has been going on for quite some time now.

The Specs

Concluding the specs for the Project 1708/ Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera according to the leaked pictures and spec sheet:

  • The bike weighs only 152Kgs. It is all because of the lightweight carbon fibre bodywork and the full carbon fibre frame. On top of this, the lightweight Desmosedici Stradale R engine also plays a significant role. There are numerous other lightweight counterparts all around the bike too.
  • The bike features Desmosedici GP19 derived livery and comes with Pirelli race tires as standard.
  • The Biplane wings from GP16 on the bike delivers 110lb/50kg of downforce at 167.7mph/270kmph. These figures are 67% higher in comparison to the V4R and even the GP19.
  • According to the spec sheet, the Project 1708 comes with the most powerful Desmosedici Stradale R engine delivering 224 Hp @ 15,250rpm and 85.3 ft.lb/11.8kgm of torque at 11,750rpm.
  • As for the brakes, Brembo Stylema R callipers on the Project 1708 features pistons with radiators and new piston coating for long race track run. The braking system also features an MCS master cylinder with a remote adjuster.
  • In the case of the suspension,  Öhils TTX36 with titanium springs and GP valves to improve bump absorption.

From the looks of it, the bike seems like a track-focused monster. Could this be Ducati’s answer to the Aprilia RSV4 X?  We just have to wait to see more!
