New Shell Synthetic Engine Oils Gives Bikes Better Performance

New Shell Synthetic Engine Oils Gives Bikes Better Performance
Michelle Liew
November 15, 2019

Shell has just launched its new and improved range of synthetic engine oils. More bikes are seen on the roads of the urban areas of Malaysia due to the worsening traffic and Shell Malaysia has introduced its new pocket-friendly engine oils: Semi syn AX7 15W50, a compliment to the existing Fully Syn Ultra 15W-50, which is formulated to provide quality performance and efficiency. Shell has long produced synthetic oils and the range has been expanded to feature in several grades of the brand’s engine oil.

The revised range includes AX7 15W-50 as the brand’s new affordable semi-synthetic engine oil. Compared to other products in the market, the AX7 15W-50 is able to keep pistons 33% cleaner and provides 29% better high-temperature protection1. It also offers 36% superior wear protection1 paired with enhanced fuel economy which gives an extra 3km per litre². Not to mention, it has protective horsepower of up to 12,000 km².

On the other hand, the Ultra 15W-50 is a powerful fully synthetic engine oil made from natural gas using Shell PurePlus Technology. A revolutionary process that delivers crystal clear base oil made from natural gas with virtually no impurities, thus making it 99.5% pure.

The semi-synthetic engine oil provides a suitable and affordable fit for older kapchais while the fully synthetic allows your superbike to achieve its maximum potential.

What is the difference between synthetic engine oil and conventional engine oil?

Conventional mineral motor oils are lubricants which are derived from the refining process of crude oil while Shell’ synthetic oils are manufactured using proprietary Pureplus technology which converts natural gas to clean GTL (gas-to-liquids) base oils.

The advantage of using synthetic engine oil is an improvement in the performance of the bikes. Due to the uniform molecular size, less friction is produced. The refinement and engineering of the base oil reduce deposit formation and oxidation.  while the proprietary additive package boosts other properties of the oil such as wear protection and detergency. Riders will have no issues in cold and extreme weather as the formula allows for better function. Lastly, it is a much cleaner oil with fewer impurities.

Prices for the engine oils kick-off at RM33.90 for AX7 15W-50 and RM68.30 for the Ultra 15W-50. The engine oils are available in Advance Branded Workshops throughout Malaysia.

Not to mention, Shell Malaysia is now endorsed by Malaysian actor and singer, Fattah Amin. The 29-year-old has recently been appointed as the brand’s latest ambassador in its expansion.

  2. Compared average results of Shell Advance Ultra to that of Shell Advance AX5. Fuel consumption can be affected by other factors including traffic conditions.
