Red Bull KTM’s championship titleholders Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings will be sitting out of the GP of Indonesia due to health concerns.
World champions will be missing out on the MXGP premier class for the second Grand Prix in a row. Both riders Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings are deemed unfit to travel east for the Grand Prix of Indonesia this weekend. The race will be held at Palembang and the Grand Prix of Asia will be held in Semarang next week. Herlings is currently recovering from surgery on his lower right leg. Cairoli, on the other hand, has pain and discomfort on his right shoulder. He claims that he is not in a state to hit the tracks.
“This was not the update we wanted to make. Sadly Tony has not recovered enough from his dislocated shoulder to race again in MXGP at the moment. We knew Jeffrey would be needing more time after his bad luck in Latvia. Obviously, it is a difficult situation for us and we are constantly assessing the recoveries of Tony and Jeffrey. Thankfully we still have excellent riders in two busy rounds of MXGP in Indonesia. We hope they stay safe and continue to enjoy a successful MX2 season so far,” says Robert Jonas, VP of Offroad as quoted from Red Bull KTM.
