Ducati testing a Multistrada V4

At the Borgo Panigale factory, some sources say they saw Ducati testing a Multistrada V4. This bike should become the top of the line in the Multistrada family.

While all our attentions are set at the upcoming Streetfighter V4, Ducati is testing another new bike. According to some sources, a new Multistrada V4 was seen testing near the Borgo Panigale factory. The bike will use the Panigale V4 engine and radical new technologies to improve safety.

Ducati isn’t thinking about replacing the current Multistrada 1260 twin-cylinder. Instead, the Italian manufacturer wants to increase the Multistrada family with the arrival of a V4 variant. The Multistrada V4 will deliver at least 190 hp according to some rumors, but the best thing about this bike will be the safety systems.

Back in early 2018 Ducati revealed they were developing a radar system for the Multistrada. They also said a bike with front and rear radars would be revealed at the end of 2019 before putting on sale in 2020. The Multistrada V4 seems to be this bike and will become the most premium version of the Italian maxitrail.

According to German website Motorradonline.de, Ducati won’t do drastic changes to the Multistrada design. Instead, Ducati will make their maxitrail one of the most technologically advanced motorcycles in the World.

For that Ducati will install on the Multistrada V4 a pair of radars. One in front and one in the back. The Borgo Panigale based manufacturer has been testing and developing the radar system since 2016. The radars will be able to, for example, detect obstacles in front and warn the rider of the incoming danger. The rear radar might detect vehicles in the blind spot.

If the bike is already under road testing procedures, we believe the production version will be revealed at EICMA Milan motorcycle show in November. The new Ducati Multistrada V4 should arrive at dealerships in early 2020.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
