Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb has just secured his career-first 1-1 win at Spring Creek MX Park in Minnesota.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cooper Webb delivered a sterling outcome at Spring Creek MX Park on Saturday for Round 8 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Webb managed to triumph to achieve a 1-1 overall victory in Millville, Minnesota. The rider took on his first ever 450MX moto win in race one and maintained the momentum to win race two to claim his first overall podium and career win. Marvin Musquin, on the other hand, capped his run at fourth place with 3-7 moto scores.
The weather conditions during the race were less favourable with the lightning storms coming through on the day of practice. Race officials had to cancel half of the practice sessions and add a one-hour delay in the race schedule to work on the track. Muddy spots covered the Spring Creek track before the start of race one and the riders had to overcome the sloppy conditions.
Despite that, Webb was able to claim pole position with his KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition. He then continued his pace in the races to bag his victory. As for Musquin, he was quite affected by poor race conditions. The French rider managed to get as high as top-10 on lap one in Moto 1. However, things took a turn in Moto 2 as Musquin was caught in the bottom of a multi-rider pileup and had to start outside the top 20.
Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM)- As It Happened
“I felt really good today. It’s incredible to go 1-1. I don’t know what happened to everyone else but I got two good starts, stayed out of trouble and it felt really awesome. It’s amazing what a moto-win can do for your confidence!” says Webb as quoted from KTM Factory Racing.
Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM)- As It Happened
“I’m definitely not happy because the riding today was pretty good but the result is not what I wanted. I was looking forward to a good battle for the lead and to make up some points. However, that didn’t happen. Next week is Washougal and we’ll spend the week in California working with the team. I hope that it will be good,” says Musquin.
