Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R it’s a young rider dream

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R it’s a young rider dream

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R it’s a young rider dream and the Japanese brand might reveal the bike during the Tokyo Motor Show in October.

Japanese magazine Young Machine reveals the plans for a new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R. According to this Japanese publication, the Akashi factory has already developed a new engine. The frame and the rest of chassis components are the next elements to be developed. The Ninja ZX-25R hopes to bring back the sport performance of the small displacement sportbikes of the ’90s.

Expected to hit the market by 2020 the Ninja ZX-25R is already subject of an in-depth analysis by Young Machine. They say the bike will feature a completely new engine. The inline-four-cylinder 250 cc power unit will be able to rev up to 20.000 rpms! Kawasaki wants this small sportbike to be aggressive, so the power figure should be around 60 hp.

The power and torque will be much higher than the current small/medium displacement sportbikes. But that’s not all! The frame geometry will be track focused. This means that the rider will get the most out of the Ninja ZX-25R while riding on the track.

Some rumors pointed to the fact that Kawasaki would be using a turbo to boost performance. But according to the latest information on this project, the engine will be naturally aspirated. That means Kawasaki has found a way to get all this performance on an engine that needs to get under homologation rules. Given this is such a small engine, it will be interesting to understand how Kawasaki achieved this.

The design of the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R is very similar to the bigger sister Ninja ZX-10R. Headlights, fairings, wheel design, and even the central air intake to boost the ram-air effect. But some details go back to those iconic sport bikes of the ’90s. For example, the intake tubes that go from the front fairing to the fuel tank.

As we already said, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R is expected to be revealed during the Tokyo Motor Show in October. Probably Kawasaki will be able to deliver the first units to customers by beginning 2020. The price is yet unknown.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
