New 2020 Honda Africa Twin to get more power!

New 2020 Honda Africa Twin to get more power!

Honda has been working hard to keep their models up to date, refreshing their looks and updating the engine and electronic package. That’s been the case with the iconic Africa Twin adventure bike, that just last year saw a host of upgrades making her even better for off-road use, while at the same time keeping the Africa Twin one of the best adventure bikes for the road.

But in 2020, according to Japanese press, Honda will bring to us a brand-new Africa Twin, with a new engine, more power, redesigned look and new electronic riding aids.

The engine will increase in displacement, just a small 90 cc increase, that will make the twin-cylinder engine reach 1080 cc. This change allows the Africa Twin to also announce an increase in power, and the rumor says that the current 95 hp will bump up to at least 100 hp, maybe a little more.

The DCT automatic transmission is going to keep its main working modes and super smooth gearshifts, but Honda will continue to increase the smoothness, for greater comfort while going for the big journeys and better reliability, even when the Africa Twin is ridden off-road.

The updated design will allow Honda to increase the fuel tank capacity from the current 18 liters to a new maximum of 20 liters, while the ignition will get the “smart key” function, meaning the rider only needs to have the key of the bike with him to be allowed to start the engine and ride into an adventure.

According to sources, the new 2020 Honda Africa Twin will make its first appearance on the Tokyo Motor Show, and later at the EICMA Milan motorcycle show.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
