As expected, the Repsol Honda team revealed their new 2019 colors with which both Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo will ride. During an event held at Repsol headquarters in Madrid, Spain, the Honda factory team was able to join on the same stage many MotoGP champions.
The RC213V prototype will continue to show fairings covered in orange, red and white, the same colors used by their main sponsor Repsol, who also took the opportunity to celebrate the 25th year of partnership with Honda Racing Corporation in MotoGP.
Of course the main rider is Marc Marquez, five-times MotoGP champion, but this season the Repsol Honda team have secured the services and talent of another great Spanish rider, Jorge Lorenzo.
After two seasons riding for Ducati, Lorenzo arrives at Repsol Honda to replace Dani Pedrosa, who decided to retire from racing at the end of 2018 after 13 years with Honda. Lorenzo is a three time MotoGP champion, and his ability to adapt to the new Honda RC213V might give Marquez another problem besides fighting with rivals from other manufacturers.
Also present on stage were former champions Alex Crivillé and Australian Mick Doohan, just in time to hear what Honda Racing Corporation president, Mr. Tetsuhiro Kuwata, had to say about the Repsol Honda dream team for 2019
“I don’t need to say anything about Marc, his actions speak louder than words. As for Jorge, we would like to say welcome to the team, and we a sure that the fact he decided to accept our challenge shows he is a true champion. It’s our duty to give them the best service as possible, and we believe there’s no better combination than Repsol and Honda”.
During the 25-year period in which Repsol and Honda shared the victories in MotoGP, they’ve won no less than 14 rider titles, 168 race wins and 427 podiums in MotoGP and 500 cc combined.
