SBK – 2019 calendar confirmed with Laguna Seca

SBK – 2019 calendar confirmed with Laguna Seca

December 20, 2018

When the FIM released the provisional World Superbike calendar in November, the iconic American round at Laguna Seca was missing. But now, with the release of the definitive 2019 World Superbike calendar, we’ve got confirmation that Laguna Seca will be one of the 13 rounds of next season.

As usual, Laguna Seca will host the American round of World SBK in July, and the action is reserved for the Superbike class. Supersport 600 and Supersport 300 won’t make the trip to the United States, with championship organizers saying it’s too complicated to fit all three classes inside the paddock, and the costs to travel there are too high for those teams.

With confirmation that Laguna Seca will be part of the 2019 season, the Superbike riders will face an unprecedented 39 race season, with the introduction of a third race every weekend, a sprint race with only 10 laps to be completed on Sunday morning.

Next season starts, as usual, in Phillip Island, Australia, February 22, with riders having almost a month of waiting before travelling to Buriram, Thailand, for the second race on March 17, while the last race will happen under the lights of Losail, Qatar, from 24 to 26 of October.

Also worth mentioning that Supersport 300 only has its first race at the third round of the World Superbike season, in Motorland Aragon, Spain.

Here’s the definitive 2019 World Superbike calendar:

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
