MotoGP–Michele Pirro speaks says stoner wasn’t the real developer

MotoGP–Michele Pirro speaks says stoner wasn’t the real developer

It’s only been a few weeks since Ducati and Casey Stoner announced their partnership would end by the end of the year, but with the Aussie rider, former MotoGP champion, now gone from the Ducati MotoGP team, other riders get a more important role as a development rider.

Michele Pirro, Italian Superbike champion, did three MotoGP races this season as a wildcard for Ducati, and he impressed every time he had that chance to ride the Desmosedici GP18. But with so many fans speaking about the loss of Stoner for Ducati future in MotoGP, Michele Pirro felt that this is the right moment to speak about what Stoner really meant for the team.

According to Michele Pirro, speaking to Italian Sky Sport, “He (Stoner) only showed up to do a few laps, he did 40 laps in Sepang, so it’s not easy to say what he did for the team. The real development work was done by someone else”.

These words seem to point to the fact that Casey Stoner didn’t help much on the development of the MotoGP bike this season, even If the fans believe he was the one responsible to transform the Italian prototype, making it so competitive in 2018.

Will Ducati miss the help of Casey Stoner from now on? Tell us what you think about it in the comments below.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
