If you have never heard of Voltu Motors, here is your chance to learn more about the brand. The brand has been quite off the radar for some time, with their last interaction on YouTube being in 2016. However, the brand is back and this time, feeding us with information regarding its Motu-X electric motorcycle.

“Motu-X is the rolling test and development platform for Initio application in motorcycles that are ‘Powered by Voltu Motors.’ The current Motu-X features the Initio liquid cooled batteries and on-board bi-directional inverter fast charging system that delivers industry-leading motor output horsepower and driving range,” said the firm.

The firm is still working on patents related to the electric motorcycle powertrain despite the silence. Voltu Motors has applied for a patent focused on the electric control system for an electric vehicle that is inclusive of an electric motor, an energy storage device (i.e., battery) and more.

It features “A transistor modules selectively coupling the electric motor to the energy storage device, a connector selectively coupling to an AC power source, a controllable switching device configured to selectively couple the connector to the electric motor; and a microcontroller controlling the switching device to couple the connector to at least one of the motor coils during a detected charging mode, and control one or more of the plurality of transistor modules to couple the motor coil to the energy storage device during the detected charging mode,” as quoted by the firm.

Voltu Motors calls this its Initio Digital Propulsion system. Voltu Motors has said that Initio could be used for all sorts of vehicles, from motorcycles and cars to trucks and buses.
