Although the new S1000RR is the main attraction at BMW Motorrad stand during the EICMA Milan motorcycle show, that opens its doors next November 6, the fact is that the Munich based brand is working to bring a bunch of new models to the streets in 2019.
One of those new models, according to the spy photos published by British website MoreBikes, is the younger sister of the popular and efficient S1000 XR. The new BMW Motorrad F850 XR has been caught by photographer’s lenses during what seems to be a development session on the road.
The BMW Motorrad F850 XR we see in the photo is very much like the Concept 9Cento BMW Motorrad showed at the last Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, in Italy. It joins the sporty style of the powerful S1000 XR but gives it a more compact and futuristic look, with the fairings featuring a new winged shape and being smaller.
Not like the Concept 9Cento, that used a magnetic system to secure the side bags to the bike, the new BMW Motorrad F850 XR uses a more conventional system for the two side bags, and it also can be fitted with a top-case for added space to transport equipment and objects while travelling.
We expect the bike to feature the same parallel twin engine as the F850 GS, but with a bit more power and torque, given the BMW Motorrad F850 XR is supposed to be ridden fast on asphalt roads and isn’t intended for off-road use like the GS.
At EICMA Milan we will get all the info on the new BMW Motorrad F850 XR.
