Qianjiang motorcycles, the Chinese group behind Benelli’s resurrection in the past few years, has shown a photo of its new 402S motorcycle during type-approval procedures, a cruiser which shows a clear intention to mimic the design of the well-known Ducati Diavel.
In China, this mini-Diavel uses a 399 cc engine, but that engine is also used by Italian manufacturer Benelli in a series of motorcycles – TRK and Leoncino – but with more displacement, specifically with 500 cc packing more power and torque. That engine will likely be used in the new cruiser Benelli 502S expected to be shown during the EICMA Milan motorcycle show in November.
Some of the chassis parts of the 502S are taken from the Leoncino, mainly the massive 50 mm front forks, but in the case of the radially mounted brake calipers, Benelli seems to have come to the conclusion that for this mini-Diavel it would be better to use Brembo calipers instead of Benelli branded ones.
According to documents, this new Benelli will have a weight of 220 kg ready to ride, and a top speed of 160 km/h.
