In case you missed out, one of Asia’s emerging electric three-wheeler manufacturer is taking on the path to focus on two-wheelers alongside electric and cruiser motorcycles to compete in the market. On another note, chief executive Ayush Lohia has made statements that that he wants to make Lohia Auto into an electric vehicle organisation.
“We do have a presence in fossil-fuel vehicles but our focus is on electrification. We want to be known as an electric vehicle organisation,” he said.
It is likely that the new manufacturing plant will be stationed in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. The firm produces electric, diesel and CNG three-wheelers and also makes its name in the two-wheeler sector, mass market EVs and premium bikes.
“The premium motorcycle segment is growing fast and within that the cruiser bike segment is highly untapped. We will be competing with Royal Enfield in that space and we think our price value equation will help us get new buyers,” said Lohia.
It has sold about 10,000 units of the Renegade and Commando cruiser motorcycles in 2018 and has greater plans in terms of 200-250cc bikes. It has also set sights in the mid-size motorcycle sector in the 350-650cc range.
