The golden age of motorcycles belongs in the past now, and motorcycle manufacturers aren’t too keen on releasing new extravagant models. But there’s always some exceptions, and Honda might be working to bring back what we can consider an exception: the CBX.
According to some sources and based on patent files that have surfaced recently, Honda filed a patent for a 6-cylinder retro model. This bike might be the return of the CBX, a motorcycle the Japanese manufacturer had on its line up back in the 80’s.
The new generation, if it’s really true that Honda is developing this bike, will use a transverse inline-six with the cylinder heads adorned by cooling fins to make it seem an old air-cooled engine. The frame is of a classic design, steel tubes, and the front and back cowls pick up de retro theme.
Laced wheels, inverted forks and rear monoshock, radial calipers and a big fuel tank complete the package that becomes extravagant with the use of no less than six exhaust pipes!
There’s no official word from Honda about this project, but if the Japanese manufacturer really is thinking about bringing back the CBX, we might get a first taste of this model, as a prototype or concept, in the next Milan motorcycle show or in the Tokyo motorcycle show.
