In a bid to lower the pollution levels and ease the congestion inside the capital city of Hanoi, Vietnam government has decided that by 2030 all motorcycles are to be banned from circulating inside city limits.
Vietnamese politicians decided to adopt this measure as a way to fight the ever-rising pollution levels in Hanoi, with the latest study by independent environmental sector GreenID noticing that over the last year, 282 days were registered to have higher levels than what is considered safe, of airborne particulates produced from exhaust emissions.
The local council also noted that there will be no ban on cars or other types of vehicles, but to make the life easier for those who won’t be able to use their motorcycles in Hanoi, the government will push to make improvements in the city’s public transportation network.
