It’s been coming for years now, but it seems KTM is finally ready to unleash its newest version based on the 390 platform: the 390 Adventure. According to Amit Nandi, KTM India boss and Bajaj SVP, quoted by several Indian publications, this smaller Adventure is set to arrive in 2019.
“With the 390 Adventure we would be making our long-awaited entry into the niche premium dual-sport segment which is a very apt segment for Indian roads,” said Amit Nandi.
KTM has made no secret they’re developing this bike, and over the last few years we’ve seen multiple shots of the test bike being ridden on the road during development phase. Now, there’s an official statement from someone who knows the plans KTM holds for the future, and the news couldn’t be better!
This smaller trail-adventure bike will be based on the KTM 390 platform we already know from the 390 Duke and the RC 390. The engine will continue to be the single-cylinder 373 cc engine, capable of 43 hp. With long travel suspensions, wheels and tyres purposely for off-road use, and a design that mimics the bigger Adventure models, the Austrian manufacturer hopes to get a lot of customers with this new baby Adventure.
Built by Bajaj in India, the 390 Adventure should arrive at the dealerships in early 2019, with the production version shown during the big motorcycle shows later this year.
