As we near the fifth MotoGP round of the season and many rumours surround a lot of riders regarding new contracts, another piece of the puzzle has fallen into place: Alex Rins and Ecstar Suzuki reached an agreement for the Spanish rider to remain in the team for two more years.
Rins has been enjoying a good time with the factory Suzuki team, and the young Spaniard already took the GSX-RR prototype to the podium this season, in the Argentina GP, being 3rd, his first MotoGP podium.
He arrived at Suzuki in 2017 coming from Moto2, and at the beginning he suffered a lot because of some injuries that didn’t let him show all he could do. He recovered his fitness, and since then he’s been making strong improvements to the performance on track.
With this new agreement, Alex Rins will race for the Ecstar Suzuki team in 2019 and 2020.
As for Alex Rins teammate, there’s no official word yet about who will get the seat on the second GSX-RR prototype. Jorge Lorenzo is the strongest candidate to occupy that seat in what will be a “Monster deal”, but we still need to wait a little longer for an official announcement.
