As promised by SIC Racing Team when Zulfahmi Khairuddin announced he wouldn’t continue racing with them in the Moto2 World Championship, the team didn’t waste too much time announcing the new rider: Niki Tuuli.
Niki Tuuli was completing his second complete season at the World Supersport Championship, and at 22 years of age the Finish rider is considered to be one of the talents at Supersport level.
Tuuli has been riding 600 cc machines for most of his racing career, and this season he switched from Yamaha to Honda, a move that made him lose some of the competitiveness he needed to be fighting for the top spots, since the Yamaha R6 is the bike to beat in the World SSP.
Even though Niki Tuuli hasn’t shown the best results in 2018, it was enough for SIC Racing Team to pick him up and bring him to Moto2.
He already tested a Moto2 bike before with Ajo Motorsport, but it will be next weekend that he’ll get his chance to show what he can do and prove to SIC Racing Team he has what they need to fight for the best results.
Niki Tuuli will make his Moto2 debut at Le Mans, France, this next weekend.
As for Zulfahmi Khairuddin, the Malaysian rider decided to go back at coaching the youngest talents after a poor start of the season where he got a 26th position as best result.
