Zef Eisenberg and his supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa making 350 hp before reaching the speed record on sand of 324 km/h!
Two years ago, Zef Eisenberg was in a hospital bed recovering from a near-death crash he suffered while trying to beat a speed record of 370 km/h on his turbine powered motorcycle, but after recovering from his many injuries, Zef decided he would again try to reach another speed record, but this time it was on sand!
During the Straightliners Top Speed event on Pendine Sands, South Wales, held on Sunday, Zef Eisenberg entered with two of his specially prepared motorcycles: A Kawasaki ZZR1400 and a supercharged 350 hp Suzuki Hayabusa painted in Kawasaki green.
It was with the supercharged Hayabusa that Zef made history by reaching 324km/h, and he is now the fastest man ever on Pendine Sands – which has been used for speed records for more than 100 years – and the fastest ever motorbike rider on sand worldwide.
“After the intense commitment to my physical and mental recovery, gym work and physio, this incredible 201.5mph sand record is the icing on the cake for me,” he said. “It was history in the making. For over 100 years people have been trying to reach 200mph at Pendine Sands – even the great gods of speed, Sir Malcolm Campbell, Parry Thomas – all have tried and failed – until today. Riding back to the finish line, [the officials] were waving frantically at me. I thought, ‘Oh no, did I miss the finish line? Did I muck up? What did I do wrong?’ When they shook my hand and told me I’d set history, I was shocked and amazed”.
