Zero Motorcycles issues a recall on 2012 models

Electric motorcycles seem to be the future for the world of two-wheels, but the development of environmentally friendly motorcycles isn’t without its problems. And to fix problems, usually, motorcycle manufacturers issue recalls, and that’s the case with American brand Zero Motorcycles.

According to a report on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the biggest American electric motorcycle manufacturer issued a recall that is intended to correct a problem on units from its 2012 model line-up.

Zero claims it’s an issue with the cell pouches inside the bikes’ battery packs. As the packs rub up against its housing/holder, wear can occur overtime which allows humidity to get inside the pouch and cause a potential electrical short within the battery.

In some cases, this problem might cause a fire, so Zero is asking to owners of affected units to don’t ride the bikes and don’t charge them.

In Southeast Asia Zero Motorcycles lists official dealers in Thailand and Indonesia.

Zero will contact owners of affected units, but if you have a 2012 model you can contact your dealership to get more information on what Zero Motorcycles will do to correct this problem.
