MotoGP – Pedrosa travels to Texas and will try to race

MotoGP – Pedrosa travels to Texas and will try to race

Repsol Honda hopes Dani Pedrosa can ride the RC213V at the Circuit of the Americas next weekend

Even though the TermasClash between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez dominated the headlines after the Argentina GP, there was another clash at the Termas de Rio Hondo race track that ended even worse: Dani Pedrosa crashed out of the race after Johann Zarco touched him, and the Repsol Honda rider suffered a small fracture on his right wrist.

After the MotoGP race in Argentina, Pedrosa flew back to his home country, and at the Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona, he was subjected to surgical intervention with Dr. Xavier Mir inserting a titanium screw to reduce the fracture.

The problem for Dani Pedrosa is to find out if he’s in good physical condition that allows him to race next weekend in the Americas Grand Prix, to be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, United States.

The race will happen just 10 days after Pedrosa got the titanium screw in the wrist, and even though it’s a risk, he will still travel to Texas and try to compete in the Americas GP

“Since the day of the operation I’ve been feeling better”, said Pedrosa. “I’ve been doing exercises to get back some mobility and reduce the inflammation. Step by step, I’m recovering muscular tonus and that allows me to notice improvements. It’s difficult to understand the real possibilities I have to compete, because it’s a difficult track, and I won’t know it until I get on my bike. What I’m sure at this moment is that it’s worth making the trip and try to race”.

Dani Pedrosa will see if he can ride the Repsol Honda RC213V during the first Free Practice of MotoGP this Friday. If he can’t, that’s going to be the second race this season where the veteran Spanish rider doesn’t get any points to fight for the MotoGP championship.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
