Honda CB750 is the most expensive Japanese bike ever sold in an auction

The H&H Classics auction at the British National Motorcycle Museum on March 4 paved way for one of the most expensive motorcycles to be ever sold at an auction alongside two of the most expensive Japanese motorcycles ever sold at auction.

The Honda CB750, a pre-production bike built for promotional purposes in 1968 managed to cap a staggering £161,000 (US$263,725) to pronounce itself the most expensive Japanese motorcycle to be ever sold at an auction.

H&H Classics had estimated for the bike to sell for £35,000 to £40,000 (US$57,000 to $65,000) but the bidding process took a long turn and eventually made history. The Honda CB750 has obliterated the 1962 Honda CR72 Production Racer to set the new record.

On another note, John Lennon’s 1969 HondaZ50A “Monkeybike” managed to fetch a price of £57,500 (US$94,187) to become one of the 10 most expensive Japanese motorcycles ever sold at auction, surpassing the 1992 Honda C45 NR750 that was priced £57,500 (US$92,952) at a Bonhams Staffordshire auction in October, 2013.
