Some big changes are expected to happen at BMW Motorrad in the beginning of May, with the German motorcycle manufacturer announcing that Dr. Markus Schramm will takeover as the new director of BMW Motorrad.
This decision comes in the follow up of former director Stephan Schaller leaving BMW Motorrad in the end of last February, taking the position of head of the management team at Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA, another German company.
Dr. Markus Schramm, 55 years old, will assume the leadership of BMW’s two-wheel division on the 1st of May, but he’s been working for the company since 1991. Being himself a passionate motorcyclist, the new director of BMW Motorrad is currently responsible for corporate and product strategy planning. He has previously held several management roles in Sales, Aftersales, Strategy, Planning and Controlling.
In the meantime, Hubert Kühner, Head of Finance, who is due to enter retirement in April 2018, is in charge of provisional management.
The new BMW Motorrad director takes over the leadership in a time when the brand continues to show record sales every year – in 2017 BMW sold 164,153 motorcycles worldwide -, and currently sells its products through over 1,200 dealers and importers in 90 countries.
