Yamaha YZF R-25 gets updated for 2018 with new colours – black & blue

Yamaha YZF R-25 gets updated for 2018 with new colours – black & blue

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has announced a mild refresh for its ever-popular Yamaha YZF R-25. For the new year, the faired quarter-litre motorcycle will now be available in two new colours – black and blue with matching wheel colour schemes. Another piece of good news is that HLYM has kept the price identical from 2017.

The 2018 Yamaha YZF R-25 retails for RM20,630.78 inclusive of GST but without insurance, road tax and registration. A quick reminder on what the R-25 is made of. The motorcycle is powered by a 249 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin that pumps out a total of 35.5 hp at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm.

All that grunt gets channeled to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox with final drive by chain. Other specifications include a fuel tank capacity of 14.3 litres, a wet weight of 166 kg and a seat height of 780 mm.

Elsewhere, 17-inch wheels are to be found wrapped in a 110/70 tyre up front while the rear wheel gets a 140/70 tyre for company. The suspension system is comprised of front telescopic forks and a monoshock at the rear, the latter adjustable for pre-load.
