Not too long after the reveal of the L7-generation Suzuki Gixxer, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to introduce the 2018 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R. For the new year, the Hamamatsu-based manufacturer decided to keep things on the mild side by introducing new colour schemes for its flagship models.
No mechanical changes to be found on the 2018 model, unfortunately. So, let’s get straight to the topic at hand. For the new year, buyers will be able to opt for a white colour scheme with blue stripes on both the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R models. In the case of the latter, it gets differentiated from its lesser twin via the inclusion of body-coloured front air intakes and blue forks.
The other colour option is a black scheme with blue or grey accents. The grey accents and stripes are available only for the higher-spec Suzuki GSX-R1000R while the GSX-R1000 in black comes with blue stripes. Also exclusive on the more expensive model in black are blue forks and blue wheels.
For those who need reminding, the L7-generation Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R are powered by a 999cc inline-four cylinder engine that produces 199hp at 13,200rpm and 118Nm of torque at 10,800rpm. Transmission is a six-speed gearbox with a chain final drive. Plonking the extra money for the higher-spec model nets you a Showa Balance Free Fork, launch control, a bidirectional quickshifter and LED positioning lights.
