2018 Husqvarna FC 450 Rockstar Edition revealed – rocking up for the new year!

2018 Husqvarna FC 450 Rockstar Edition revealed – rocking up for the new year!

Less than a month before the start of the new Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, Husqvarna has taken the wraps off its latest model, the 2018 Husqvarna FC 450 Rockstar Edition. While some may think that it’s just another special edition with cosmetic add-ons, the new motorcycle actually boasts several upgrades and improvements in terms of hardware.

Firstly, the motorcycle features an improved 450 cc, single-cylinder mill with a shorter and lighter SOHC cylinder head with a more durable camshaft. Total power output is quoted at 63 hp. Elsewhere, a five-speed transmission with an integrated gear sensor comes courtesy of Pankl Racing Systems.

Braking system is comprised of a 260 mm floating front disc and a 220 mm solid-mounted rear disc. Said discs are paired up to a Brembo-sourced caliper setup. Elsewhere, a 44 mm Keihin throttle body and revised cam timing is said to offer more bottom end power. A larger fuel tank of 7 litres should help with longer excursions.

Also new is a lithium-ion battery that saves 1 kg compared to a regular lead acid unit. The ProTaper handlebar is mounted slightly lower and is designed with rider comfort in mind. Three handlebar mounting positions are available.

Aside from that, the skidplate is made out of reinforced carbon fibre and the exhaust system is now more compact in design – the resonance chamber in the header is also brand new. Last but not least, the 2018 Husqvarna FC 450 Rockstar Edition features exclusive graphics that are scientifically-proven to boost the rider’s abilities.
