Honda-Yamaha team set to revolutionize the industry with electric-bike sharing

The Honda-Yamaha tech team-up has initiated plans for an interesting electric-bike sharing pilot project in Japan.
The team-up’s goal was to get manufacturers working together on electric motorcycle technology in order to improve battery systems. Due to the lack of battery range and incompatibility between platforms, there is a problem holding back electric motorcycles.

According canadamotoguide.com, the new pilot project will run in Saitama City in Japan, and will see participants) using E-Vino units to ride around the town with a battery-swap program running in addition to the electric scooter rentals.
The battery swap is said to be the most exciting part of the deal and if done correctly, there may be a change of a grand improvement of the industry.

Honda’s press releases have stated that the team-up is all about promoting “Class 1” vehicles, which is “A category defined by the Road Vehicles Act of Japan as ‘vehicles equipped with two or more wheels and an engine with total displacement of 50 cc or less or an electric motor with a rated output of 0.60 kW or less.’ “
The project is said to provide the best services for commuters and we certainly can’t wait to hear more about this project!
