The PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team is gearing up for the penultimate round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship, taking place this weekend at Circuito Estoril in Portugal. As the season nears its conclusion, the team is eager to finish strong, with Tito Rabat joined by Portuguese rider Ivo Lopes, who replaces the absent Zaqhwan Zaidi.
After a positive weekend at MotorLand Aragón, Rabat is heading to Portugal with growing confidence. The Spanish rider showed improved pace and consistency in the previous round, and he hopes to carry that momentum into Estoril. Rabat also has good memories of the Portuguese circuit, where he scored a top-10 finish in Race 1 last year.
“I like the Estoril track a lot and have many years of experience racing there,” said Rabat. “At Aragón, we took a step forward with the bike, and I’m feeling positive for this weekend. Let’s see what we can achieve — I’m ready to push.”
For Lisbon-born Ivo Lopes, the Estoril round is a special one. Racing on home soil gives him an extra boost of motivation. Lopes has already raced for the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team several times, including the UK round earlier this year and Estoril 2024, where he scored points in both long races.
“I’m very grateful to the team for this opportunity,” said Lopes. “It’s a great feeling to race at my home track in front of the Portuguese fans. I’ll do my best to fight for points — the team deserves it. I can’t wait to get started.”
