Ruroc has steadily evolved from a bold newcomer in the motorcycle helmet space to a brand that’s starting to deliver more than just eye-catching design. The latest release, the Eox Raw Carbon, is the British company’s 2025 flagship model, designed to improve upon its predecessors in both safety and comfort, while still turning heads with its aggressive styling.
Construction & Safety
The Ruroc Eox is certified to ECE 22.06 and DOT standards, featuring a quad-matrix carbon fibre composite shell. It claims a class-leading 215-degree field of view, ideal for improved road awareness.
Internally, the Eox incorporates a Rheon impact liner paired with an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) core to manage both linear and rotational forces. This collaboration with Rheon represents a notable shift toward enhancing real-world safety in premium helmets.
Fit & Comfort
Early concerns about comfort seen in previous models, such as the Atlas 4.0, have been largely addressed. The Eox offers a more consistent fit with fewer pressure points, resulting in improved long-term wearability. Once broken in, the internal padding provides a secure yet forgiving fit across various head shapes.
The ventilation system includes four intakes and two exhaust vents, creating efficient airflow across the head and around the chin. While this makes the helmet well-suited for warmer weather, it may feel drafty during colder rides.
Noise & Stability
Aerodynamic refinements contribute to better wind management and overall helmet stability. The Eox is quieter than previous Ruroc models, though still not as silent as top-tier offerings like the Shark Aeron GP. The improved shell shape and internal padding, however, create a noticeably more composed experience, particularly during highway cruising.
Visor Quality
The visor mechanism has seen significant improvements, offering smooth operation, solid detents, and a practical tab on the left side for easy use, even with winter gloves. Despite visible gaps near the top seal, the helmet performs well in wet conditions, keeping moisture out during rain.
Optical clarity is high, with only minor distortion when making quick head movements. Fogging is minimal even without a Pinlock insert, though colder months may require additional anti-fog measures.
Fastening System: Fidlock Remains Divisive
Ruroc continues to use its proprietary Fidlock magnetic closure instead of the more traditional double-D ring. While the system is secure once engaged, many riders find it cumbersome, especially when fastening with gloves. It remains one of the Eox’s most polarising features.
Bluetooth Integration
The Eox is designed to accommodate the Shockwave Bluetooth system, developed in partnership with Cardo. This optional add-on integrates directly into the helmet’s shell, maintaining its aerodynamic form and eliminating the bulk of typical external comms units.
The Shockwave Mesh version offers group intercom capabilities, music streaming, voice control, and automatic volume adjustment. Setup is relatively straightforward, and sound quality is strong, though the buttons may be difficult to operate with thick gloves. Riders seeking a more affordable option can choose a basic Bluetooth version priced at £179, which omits mesh and voice features.
Build Quality & Finish
Overall build quality has improved, with well-secured interior padding and easy-to-swap visors. However, some minor issues remain, such as visible glue around the cheek pads on certain units. While cosmetic, these details can be disappointing at this price point and may affect buyer confidence when compared with established competitors like Arai, Shoei, or AGV.
There is also a minor ergonomic concern: the chinbar may make contact with the rider’s shoulder during over-the-shoulder checks, especially when wearing bulky jackets or backpacks. This is more common on sport bikes and less noticeable on upright or adventure-style motorcycles.
Verdict
The Ruroc Eox Raw Carbon represents a clear evolution for the brand. With meaningful improvements in comfort, ventilation, and safety features, the helmet is now more than just a visual statement. That said, it is still a product with some compromises, particularly the fiddly Fidlock closure system and minor finish inconsistencies.
While it may not yet rival the absolute best helmets on the market in every category, the Eox positions itself as a serious contender for riders who value both performance and aesthetics.
