Not all motorcycles are built to be ridden — some are built to make history. And now, one of MotoGP’s fastest ever machines is heading not back to the paddock, but into the hands of a collector bold enough to own it.
In a move that blurs the lines between elite motorsport and high-end collecting, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has partnered with RM Sotheby’s to auction a one-of-a-kind treasure: Brad Binder’s 2023 KTM RC16 MotoGP prototype. This isn’t a showpiece or a replica. This is the bike that shattered records at Mugello, hitting a jaw-dropping 366.1 km/h — the fastest top speed ever logged in the sport.

Set to go under the hammer in a sealed, online auction from 26 to 29 May 2025, the RC16 is more than a collector’s item — it’s a time capsule of cutting-edge engineering, raw performance, and competitive grit. In 2023, this machine helped Binder secure nine podiums and 4th in the Riders’ Championship, while KTM finished second among constructors.
F1 enthusiasts often lock race-used cars away in vaults, but MotoGP teams rarely sell machines like this publicly—and fewer still offer them in fully functional, run-ready condition. That’s what makes this offering special. It’s not just a bike; it’s the embodiment of KTM’s evolution in the premier class, forged in the fire of global competition.
To honour the occasion, Binder and rising star Pedro Acosta will race their 2025 RC16s with RM Sotheby’s livery during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone — a subtle reminder that some stories don’t end at the chequered flag. Some begin there.
For the right bidder, that story continues — not in a garage, but in a legacy.
