The opening round of the 2025 AEON Credit MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship roared into action last weekend at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, with Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Honda Racing Malaysia sealing a thrilling Race 2 win in the MSBK1000 A category.

After a tough outing in Race 1 due to brake issues, Azroy made a strong comeback on Sunday, displaying strategic brilliance and sheer pace. Early in the race, Azroy led the pack, shadowed closely by his teammate Md Helmi Azman and Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia’s Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin.

By Lap 3, Kasma surged to the front, with Azroy right on his tail. Helmi, sitting in third, registered the fastest lap at that point, 2’06:669s at a blistering 291.9 km/h, as he tried to reel in the leaders. But Kasma responded with an even quicker lap of 2’06:647s, setting the stage for a fierce battle.

Unfortunately, Helmi’s charge ended abruptly on Lap 7 with a crash at Turn 15, taking him out of podium contention. The final lap saw a nail-biting duel between Kasma and Azroy, with the Honda rider executing a decisive move to snatch victory with a total race time of 21’15:889s.

“Yesterday in Race 1, we had brake problems and couldn’t get on the podium,” Azroy shared post-race. “Alhamdulillah, today (Sunday) everything worked perfectly. I followed Kasma’s pace and waited for the right moment. With a 0.100s gap at the end, I conserved energy and made my move on the last lap, it paid off.”

Kasma settled for second with a time of 21’16:507s, while Adam Norrodin of AMI Suzuki Motorsport secured third at 21’24:132s.
