Langen Motorcycles is taking things to a whole new level with the LS12 Lightspeed Turbo, building on the success of their 2023 Lightspeed, which already made waves with a mind-blowing 185 bhp. This time, they are turbocharging the bike’s engine to unleash a staggering 300 horsepower, aiming to become the “world’s fastest production motorcycle.”

The inspiration comes from turbocharged legends of the 80s, such as the 100-hp Honda CX650 and the 112-hp Kawasaki GPZ750. Langen notes that the Lightspeed already had the raw potential to be a class leader. However, the robust powerplant and design meant they could push the limits further. The result? The LS12 Lightspeed Turbo.

The company has engineered the Turbo to overcome common turbo challenges, like lag and heat management. The bike comes with a ride-by-throttle and a custom Electronic Control Unit, ensuring smoother performance.

Langen has already tested it, recording 250 bhp, with hopes of hitting 300 bhp in “full power mode.”

The turbo model may add some weight due to new components, but the power-to-weight ratio remains extraordinary. The original Lightspeed boasted a remarkable 0.454 bhp/lb (1 bhp/kg). With the turbo, that could jump to 0.681 bhp/lb (1.5 bhp/kg). For context, that’s similar to the Kawasaki Ninja H2/R and Crighton CR700W.

Expect premium features, including carbon fibre bodywork, Ohlins suspension, and Hel brake gear. Given the original Lightspeed’s price tag of over $46,000, the Turbo will likely be costly. But with its performance and limited run, expect it to sell fast.

Langen aims to bring the Lightspeed Turbo to the Santa Pod Raceway drag strip by year-end. The bike promises to set new standards for high-performance motorcycles.
