As the 2025 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season approaches, Yamaha has revealed its striking new liveries for its factory and factory-supported teams. The Pata Yamaha and GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK squads showcased their updated designs last week, just ahead of the Portimao pre-season test.

Both teams will continue to sport Yamaha’s iconic blue colour scheme, with the factory team fielding Andrea Locatelli and Jonathan Rea, while the GRT team retains Remy Gardner and Dominique Aegerter for the upcoming season.

A Milestone Year for Yamaha

2025 marks a significant milestone for Yamaha, as it celebrates 10 years since its return to the WorldSBK championship in 2016 after a five-year hiatus. The Japanese manufacturer has been a consistent presence in the series, though its 2024 campaign fell short of expectations.

Andrea Dosoli, Yamaha Motor Europe’s division manager for motorsport, reflected on the team’s journey and its ambitions for the new season. “2025 marks a significant milestone for Yamaha as we celebrate ten years since our return to the FIM Superbike World Championship in 2016,” Dosoli said. “While our results in 2024 fell short of expectations, the dedication and collaborative effort from our engineers, the wider YME management team, our riders, and our teams has been unwavering.”

Dosoli added that encouraging progress during winter testing has fueled the team’s confidence for the upcoming season. “The competition in WorldSBK is at a really high level, so we are excited for another year of close, thrilling battles on track,” he said.

Riders Ready to Shine

The 2025 season will see a strong line-up of riders representing Yamaha, including five world champions across its teams. Jonathan Rea, the most successful rider in WorldSBK history, enters his second season with Yamaha after a challenging 2024 campaign.

Niccolo Canepa, Yamaha’s road racing sporting manager, expressed confidence in Rea’s ability to bounce back. “Jonathan’s career achievements speak for themselves,” Canepa said. “While last season presented challenges for him, his determination and resilience are second to none, and a year of experience with the R1 will undoubtedly prove important.”

Andrea Locatelli, entering his fifth season with Yamaha, will aim to build on his consistent performances. “Andrea has already demonstrated his ability to compete at the front,” Canepa added. “We are confident he will continue to build on his impressive performances.”

Meanwhile, the GRT Yamaha team will rely on the talents of Remy Gardner and Dominique Aegerter, both of whom have shown flashes of brilliance in previous seasons.

Looking Ahead

As Yamaha prepares for its 10th season back in WorldSBK, the team is determined to return to the forefront of the championship. With a strong rider line-up, a renewed focus on development, and the support of its dedicated engineers and staff, Yamaha is poised to challenge for victories and podium finishes in 2025.

The season kicks off in February at Phillip Island, Australia, where Yamaha will look to make a strong statement and set the tone for the rest of the year.
