Following a brief delay from its initial October 11 launch, Aprilia Malaysia has officially unveiled the highly anticipated RS 457 sportbike. The event, hosted by Didi Group, Aprilia’s official distributor in Malaysia, featured a special appearance by MotoGP rider Lorenzo Savadori at their Petaling Jaya headquarters.
Savadori, renowned for his contributions to developing Aprilia’s RS-GP race bike, added excitement to the launch, showcasing the brand’s strong racing heritage.
The RS 457 is an all-new project aimed at young riders seeking a high-performance yet manageable motorcycle. Featuring a 457cc parallel-twin engine delivering 47hp at 9,400 rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm.
Weighing 159 kg dry (175 kg with fluids), Aprilia claims it boasts the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, positioning it to compete with the CFMoto 450SR, KTM RC390, and Kawasaki Ninja 400 or ZX-4R.
Equipped with advanced tech, the RS 457 includes adjustable traction control, three riding modes (Eco, Rain, Sport), and three levels of grip control. Although a Quickshifter isn’t standard, early buyers—limited to the first 50—can purchase a two-way Quickshifter for RM399 (RM 1,999 normal price) as a special offer.
True to Aprilia’s signature design, the RS 457 sports aerodynamic features and three-part LED headlights. Its 5-inch colour TFT display provides essential ride information, while the Aprilia MIA phone connection system is sold separately. The model also features a 13-litre fuel tank.
Suspension components include an adjustable USD front fork with 120 mm travel and a rear monoshock with 130 mm travel. Braking duties are handled by 4-pot ByBre callipers with 320 mm front and 220 mm rear discs, supported by dual-channel ABS. The RS 457 rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres.
Fully developed in Noale, Italy, the RS 457 bridges the gap between Aprilia’s RS 125 and RS 660 models, joining the esteemed RS family alongside the RSV4 and the RS-GP MotoGP bike.
Available in three colour options, the RS 457 starts at RM33,900 for the Prismatic Dark and Opalescent Light colours, and RM35,900 for the Racing Stripes variant. Aprilia aims to replicate the success of the RS 660 by appealing to the next generation of riders with a model that balances performance, comfort, and safety.
Didi Group anticipates that the RS 457 will resonate with Malaysia’s motorcycle community, offering an authentic sport riding experience that embodies Aprilia’s legacy.
