KTM has announced that Aki Ajo will take over as Team Manager of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MotoGP squad from 2025 onwards. Ajo, a long-time ally of KTM, has led Ajo Motorsport in Grand Prix racing for over 20 years, establishing a successful partnership with KTM in 2012.

Together, they secured the first-ever Moto3 world title with the KTM RC4 that year, and went on to win additional championships in 2016 with Brad Binder and in 2021 with Pedro Acosta. Under Ajo’s guidance, six riders from his Moto3 program advanced to the MotoGP category.

In 2017, Ajo expanded KTM’s presence into Moto2, further boosting the KTM GP Academy’s influence. His team claimed three consecutive Moto2 titles from 2021 to 2023, and several of his riders progressed to MotoGP.

Now, with Ajo stepping in as Team Manager for KTM’s ninth MotoGP season in 2025, he will lead the team, which features riders Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, with the aim of consistently contending for podiums and victories.

Ajo’s intimate understanding of the KTM organization, its staff, and riders, coupled with his championship-winning expertise, is expected to elevate KTM’s performance in MotoGP. Meanwhile, the Red Bull KTM Ajo structure will continue its focus on developing young talent in Moto3 and Moto2 through the KTM GP Academy.

Ajo expressed his gratitude for the new role: “It’s an honour to take on this challenge with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. MotoGP is incredibly competitive right now, and we need to continue pushing hard to improve the KTM package even further. There are many strong components to this project, and we need to manage them well. I’m excited to be part of this.”

KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer praised Ajo’s longstanding relationship with the brand: “We have a special bond with Aki, and we believe his leadership will drive our MotoGP project forward. His success with our riders speaks volumes, and his deep knowledge of our organization will be invaluable. I’m thrilled we’re continuing this journey together.”
