Laconia Motorcycle Week rescheduled to August this year

Considering the great economical benefits, there are no plans to cancel the Laconia Motorcycle Week.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, New Hampshire’s biggest annual events, Motorcycle Week, will take place in August. Motorcycle Week, along with Memorial Day weekend, has traditionally provided a big kickoff for the summer season.  Business owners have expressed relief over the fact that the event was postponed and not cancelled altogether.

Initially taking place on June 13, it has now been moved to August 22. Charlie St. Clair, the executive director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, said there were no plans to cancel the event.

“This is a very large economic boost to the state and people everywhere. So there was no thought of cancelling at all,” says St. Clair as quoted from WMUR.

After talking with vendors and sponsors, along with local businesses, organizers came up with the alternative date. “It’s going to be different and difficult for a lot of people to get here, as far as vendors and people like that,” St. Clair adds, “But they’ll do it. They’ll be here for this.”

At Channel Waterfront Cottages, Jose Dematos says that his 15 cottages were all booked for the original week but some guests have already made calls for a switch. “A lot of the weekly guests are moving their entire week to that week in August, which is great,” says Dematos.

The association adds that the date did not conflict with any other rallies around the country. This is because this is traditionally the time when the summer season is slowing down. “The week that was chosen traditionally falls off quite a bit in accommodations going down, with the children back to school that last week of August.” The prediction is that the new date will result in smaller crowds.
