Harley-Davidson plans include a new twin-cylinder engine

The strategy of the American company for the year 2020 includes the arrival of a new twin-cylinder engine.

The Milwaukee based brand has ambitious plans for the near future. Those plans include not only the electric LiveWire which we already talked about but also a set of new combustion engine models like the Pan America, the Custom 1250 and the Streetfighter.

But, according to German magazine Motorrad, these aren’t the only new models that Harley-Davidson is working on!

According to Motorrad, a set of homologation files and schematics show what it appears to be the new twin-cylinder engine that Harley-Davidson plans on using on new motorcycles set to be released by 2020.

This new engine has the cylinders arranged in a V formation, with an angle of 60º, and will use double overhead camshafts to control the intake and exhaust valves. Built to be compact and light, this engine will allow Harley-Davidson to build lighter and more agile motorcycles than the ones using their classic engines.

This new V-twin unit will come in displacements from 500 cc to 750 cc, but also up to 1000 cc.

As expected, Harley-Davidson doesn’t make any comment regarding this new twin-cylinder engine, but we know that the American manufacturer will indeed use it on new motorcycles that will be released in 2020.
