Danilo Petrucci might be getting what he was looking for so long, and next season he will be riding for the factory Ducati team in MotoGP. But this “dream job” might not be so good after all, since Ducati motorsport director, Paolo Ciabatti, has already issued a warning to Petrucci.
Speaking to Motorsport website, Ciabatti spoke about what he needs his new rider to do aboard the factory Ducati Desmosedici prototype
“The factory team has a lot of pressure, both from sponsors and from the media. He needs to show he has what it takes to reach the podium on a regular basis. Danilo (Petrucci) has to see the next season as a once in a lifetime opportunity. His trajectory up to this point has been very peculiar and we believe he has what it takes and deserves this chance. But he needs to show us that we’ve made the right decision!”.
With one of the most important persons on the Ducati Corse racing department saying this about him, Petrucci will really need to step up his game, and not only when the 2019 MotoGP season starts.
Ducati management will surely be looking at him since the first time he tests the factory bike with them after the season finale in Valencia, this next weekend.
