It’s been a while now since we last spoke about the fabulous V85 Concept that Moto Guzzi showed at last year’s EICMA show, but we knew that the Italian brand, part of the Piaggio Group, would be launching a production version of this trail bike very soon.
And the wait is finally over, and at last weekend’s Open House in Mandello del Lario, home of Moto Guzzi, in Italy, the V85 TT showed up in its full production colors and design.
According to Moto Guzzi, the new V85 TT will make use of a V-twin engine with 850 cc, something we already knew, but the Italians have reworked the engine to make it more powerful. The first numbers that have already been confirmed by Moto Guzzi show a peak power of 80 hp, a bit more than we initially expected.
Mixing a classic design with the current trail / adventure trends, the new V85 TT is defined by Moto Guzzi as a classic endure model, making use of a big rally inspired fuel tank and twin headlights on top of a raised beak, just like most manufacturers use on their adventure models nowadays.
The V85 TT will be Guzzi’s bet to take the midsize adventure segment to another level, replacing the old but venerable Stelvio with its big 1200 cc engine that is now discontinued because it didn’t meet the Euro4 requirements. Judging by the dashboard photo, which is a full color TFT panel, the V85 TT will get riding modes, GPS and smartphone connectivity and probably adjustable traction control.
No word yet from Moto Guzzi as of when this V85 TT adventure bike will be available to customers, but we really can’t wait to get our leg over one and test her for a full review!
