Gaerne: Protecting our feet since 1962 with specialized boots

Gaerne: Protecting our feet since 1962 with specialized boots
Bruno Gomes
May 3, 2018

With over half a century experience in manufacturing high quality shoes and boots, Gaerne continues to look for innovative ways to protect our feet

Founded in 1962 by Ernesto Gazzola, Gaerne is located at the foothills of the Italian Alps, near Treviso, an area where quality shoemaking is carved deep into the land and where people take pride in creating shoes using traditional methods while accepting the benefits of new technologies.

Ernesto started by making hiking boots, but in the mid 70’s he ventured into the motorcycling business, and since then Gaerne has provided protection for both casual or professional riders with specialized boots that not only provide excellent protection, but also maximize comfort and boost performance in the most demanding scenarios like racing at World level.

Gaerne GP1 Evo, is the top of the line boot for racing. Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Ducati) uses these boots when racing in World SBK!

Ernesto Gazzola still works at the factory and treats all of his employees like they are family, and probably they are, since most of them have been working there for more than 30 years. It’s this kind of connection that makes Gaerne boots so special, because the men and women working there take real pride in what they do, and the end results are exceptional, being motorcycle boots for adventure riding, to use on a racetrack or to go off-road where impact protection becomes even more important.

Ernesto Gazzola still works at the Gaerne factory, and in many occasions he’s at the end of the production line checking the boots before they’re shipped to stores

The “Made in Italy” slogan is perfectly applied to Gaerne, that unlike other brands that fought the high production costs by relocating their production to the Far East, still continues to manufacture all their boots in the factory near Treviso.

Although Gaerne is still basically a “family” business, that doesn’t mean they don’t invest in research and development. That’s why the factory is always evolving and engineers keep pushing the limits of the materials to create innovative ways to protect our feet while we enjoy our bikes.

A good example of this search for innovation in protection is the Dual Stage Pivot System, which is exclusive to Gaerne, and applied to the top of the line off-road boot SG-12.

Impressive: the Gaerne SG-12 boot is made with 218 individual parts!

Quality is in the details: hand stitching for the best results

Quality is at the top of the priority list at Gaerne, and that’s why they only use the best of the best in terms of materials.

Full-grain premium leather, dual-composite rubber for added grip and wear resistance, buckles or straps that have been tested hundreds of times before being used on the production of a boot, injection moulding of plastic to produce intricate parts of the boot to fit just right, like a perfect puzzle, and this is just to name a few of the things they use.

Gaerne tests many different colors before selecting one to use in the production line

But quality materials aren’t enough for Gaerne, and that’s why all motorcycle boots that come out of the production line are inspected individually before they are packed and shipped to the stores. One final inspection before the boots reach the customers.

As Gaerne states on its website: “It’s about using the right leather, the strongest materials and the toughest soles to make Gaerne boots that fit “Just Right”.

For all these reasons and many more, iMotorbike and the official Gaerne importer in Malaysia, Bike Nation Sdn Bhd, have come up with a new promotion that can get you up to 50% discount on selected boots from this prestigious Italian brand.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
