A fantastic milestone: 4,000,000 motorcycles rolled out from the assembly line line at Sungai Buloh, Selangor

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) announced today that the 4,000,000th motorcycle rolled out from its assembly line at the Kompleks Hong Leong Yamaha Motor, Sungai Buloh, Selangor.

HLYM was appointed official franchise holder for CKD and CBU Yamaha motorcycles and ATVs in Malaysia since 1978. It rolled out its first CKD Yamaha street model, RX100, at the Shah Alam plant in 1979, and relocated its factory in 1997 which now occupies an area sprawling 35.6 acres in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.

Producing mainly for the domestic market, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor factory is responsible for the manufacturing of 5 moped models, 4 automatic scooters and 2 street motorcycles.

To mark this special occasion, HLYM picked up a Y15ZR from the assembly line and customized it with a commemorative set of graphics. This Y15ZR “4,000,00th” customized bike can be seen at the Hong Leong Yamaha Motor showroom in Sungai Buloh.

For those of you that are thinking in buying this special version of the Y15ZR, Yamaha points out that this bike isn’t for sale… unfortunately!

To celebrate the milestone, HLYM customized a Y15ZR with special set of graphics. Unfortunately, this bike won’t be for sale!

Mr. Yoshihiro Hidaka, President, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director of Yamaha Motor Co. Japan, said about this moment that “I am delighted to convey my warmest congratulations to Hong Leong Yamaha Motor on this auspicious occasion – the roll out of the 4,000,000th motorcycle assembled in Malaysia. I firmly believe that Hong Leong Yamaha Motor will continue to address the challenges of the future and continue to play a pivotal and innovative role in the motorcycle industry in Malaysia. In closing, I would like to offer my heartfelt gratitude to all parties concerned for the support, cooperation, and contributions that led to this remarkable achievement, and hope for even greater success to come”.

Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor, also didn’t let this special occasion pass by without saying some words about it

“Today marks another historical milestone for Hong Leong Yamaha Motor as we roll out the 4,000,000th motorcycle from our Sungai Buloh factory assembly line. This momentous accomplishment is the result of our continued commitment to deliver premium and high quality motorcycles since 1979, which has made Yamaha the brand of choice of Malaysian motorcyclists. On behalf of the Board of Directors and management of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the continuous support from our loyal dealers, supply chain vendors, devoted customers and employees”.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
