MotoGP – Marquez admits he had a special motivation to win in Texas

Marc Marquez crossed the finish line in style, making six wins a row in MotoGP races held in Texas

Last couple of weeks haven’t been especially peaceful for Marc Marquez, with the aftermath of the “Termas Clash” still haunting the MotoGP champion. But the Repsol Honda rider was back where he feels best this past weekend, and by dominating the MotoGP race at the Circuit of The Americas, he made sure his riding did the talking for him!

His sixth-straight win in Texas got him the second spot in MotoGP standings, one point adrift from Andrea Dovizioso, and after setting an unprecedented record in Texas, Marc Marquez spoke about the motivation he had for this race

“I’ve concentrated on the start, and it was one of my best starts in MotoGP. I wanted to lead the race as soon as possible and open up a gap to prevent overtakings. I wanted a quiet race because that way there’s no more talking. Since I could [ride so fast], I did it. I had a special motivation in this race, I wanted to do the talking on track, where I am better. The cool down lap was also very emotional, remembering Nicky Hayden, who was a very good friend of mine”.

But even though the “Termas Clash” is so far behind us, MotoGP fans present in Texas made sure to whistle against Marc Marquez as soon as he arrived at “parc fermé” and also during the podium ceremony.

Marquez says that those whistles work as another motivation for him and that “this weekend I had extra pressure and motivation comes because I like to do the talking on track, and when I feel more pressure it’s when I perform the best. This weekend we focused in the right way”.
