SSP Thailand – Krummenacher wins after a final corner clash with Mahias

SSP Thailand – Krummenacher wins after a final corner clash with Mahias

Randy Krummenacher takes the win in Thailand and moves up to the top of the SSP standings.

The World Supersport race at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, saw Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher (BARDAHL Evan Bros. Yamaha) grab a fantastic win over the reigning champion Lucas Mahias (GRT Yamaha) after a final corner clash with the two rider touching elbows!

Krummenacher was in control at the midway stage of the Supersport race, but Mahias thought he could still fight for the second win of the season and in the final laps was right in the back of race leader.

The two Yamaha riders made it into the final corner side by side, but Krummenacher held the lead until the finish line, with the riders getting a bit more physical and the bikes touching fairings right until the checkered flag. A fantastic duel that ended with Randy Krummenacher getting the win and Lucas Mahias securing a second place, which makes both riders on pair at the top of the standings of the World Supersport championship.

Third and final place in the podium here in Chang went to Federico Caricasulo, the Italian on a Yamaha fending off a late attack from Sandro Cortese, on another Yamaha, while the best Kawasaki was the one from local wild card Thitipong Warokorn in fifth place.

Ratthapong Wilairot (Yamaha Thailand Racing Team), another wild card in front of his home crowd, raced to a solid eight place finish, Decha Kraisart (Yamaha Thailand Racing Team) crossed the line in 13th, and Malaysian rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Puccetti Kawasaki), who replaced injured Kenan Sofuoglu, almost made into the points finishing in 16th position.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
