Kawasaki ‘W’ range backs out from Europe and targets South East Asia

Kawasaki ‘W’ range backs out from Europe and targets South East Asia

With the implementation of the Euro4 emissions rules, a lot of motorcycles have vanished from the European market to comply with the current norms. This includes the Kawasaki ‘W’ range.

The range may be done and dusted in Europe but is still going strong outside of the continent. In fact, Kawasaki has expanded their ‘W’ range to include new models W175 and W250. The main targets for these are now more concentrated in Asia, specifically the South East, such as Thailand and Indonesia.

The W250 is basically the reincarnation of the Estrella 250- almost the same but with a new name. In fact, the bike is also nicknamed the ‘Baby Estrella’ by some. The Estrella’s glorious days can be traced back to 1992. The W250 is capable of delivering 18PS at 7500rpm and a peak torque of 18 Nm at 5500rpm.

The W175 is a much smaller bike than the W250. It features namesake engine with a capacity of 177cc. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission and produces an output of 13PS at 7500rpm and 13.2Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The design of the bike is very classic and stays true to the antique side.

Of course, both the motorcycles lack the Euro4 emissions certifications and strays away from the European arena. However, it might shine bright in the South East Asian region. We will only find out once the bikes make their debut here.
