Yamaha will be reviving the RZ250 and RZ350 names after the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer confirms that it has patented both names.
Yamaha RZ250 and RZ350 were indeed quite impressive names during their launch in 1985. Both the 2-stroke models quickly achieved global popularity including in Malaysia. The models are available at a price of around RM60,000 to RM70,000.
However, taking into account the strict emission factors, we speculate that Yamaha might not completely revive the model in question. Instead, the patented name most likely refers to a modern motorcycle but with a retro touch. This was implemented on the XSR model line.
Despite that, there is also the possibility that Yamaha is just making sure that the iconic model name remains theirs and is not lost on other manufacturers.
There is yet to be any confirmation from Yamaha regarding the use of the names. Nevertheless, fans have been speculating about several scenarios like the above.
Stay tuned for more updates.
